A Double Dog Dare
February 1, 2020Road Rage and God’s Will
February 2, 2020What in the world is going on in the world? It seems each day reveals a new level of insanity and issues. Problem and pain plague our newsfeed. And if it’s not some national tragedy bothering us then it’s the alternator in our SUV that needs replacing. Always something wrong. Always something bad.
Sure, you can see life this way. You can live from stress to stress and jump from one pickle into another. Or you can view life differently. It’s totally possible for two people to go through the exact same experience and relate to it totally different. Once, there were 12 Hebrew spies sent into enemy territory to reconnoiter some land. Ten returned with a negative and fearful report. Only two were positive that the place was pleasing. Here’s an interesting point… the land had already been promised to the Israelites. The two who gave a pleasant report were trusting God regardless of how things looked.
We don’t see life as it is… we see life as we are.
If you are at a place of faith then you will generally have faith regardless of what you face. If are struggling spiritually then there will be negativity, no matter what is before you. From your personal bifocals, you can see the same as anyone else and choose blessings, you can choose to believe for the best. Faith comes by hearing the word of God – allowing His perspective into your mindset. Then when you add your emotions of confidence and satisfaction to faith, you can have the feeling of trust no matter what happens.
The only way to make sense if this crazy world of ups and downs is to turn to God. Proverbs 1:23 tells us that if we listen to the Lord and turn from our way of thinking then we can have understanding and wisdom. When we surrender the Holy Spirit will be poured upon us so that we can understand his word. Through the Scriptures we can build our faith and make sense of this mad world. Turn to the Lord today and to His word, the Spirit will help you. That’s a promise you can count on. Let this passage from Proverbs become your hearts cry … “Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.”
